What is tapeball cricket?

Tapeball cricket is a popular form of cricket played in South Asia, particularly in Pakistan and India. It is played with a tennis ball wrapped in electric tape, hence the name "tapeball". Tapeball cricket is played in streets, parks, and other informal settings, often on concrete or other hard surfaces.

One of the defining characteristics of tapeball cricket is the use of a very small playing area, often no larger than a few meters in diameter. This requires players to develop quick reflexes and precise aim, as the ball can travel very quickly and has a tendency to bounce unpredictably.

Tapeball cricket is often played in a modified version of the traditional cricket rules, with fewer players, shorter matches, and modified scoring systems. It is also often played informally, with little or no supervision or umpiring.

Despite its informal nature, tapeball cricket has become a popular pastime in many South Asian communities, and tournaments and leagues are frequently held. In recent years, some professional cricket players have emerged from tapeball cricket backgrounds.
